Colby White is a multifaceted music professional with a diverse background from his time growing up in Texas and Tennessee. As a freelance vocalist, transcriptionist, arranger, private instructor, and choir director, Colby has cultivated a broad skill set over the past 14 years, excelling in both classical and commercial vocal styles.
Colby’s expertise in aural skills, music theory, and voice instruction has been honed through eight years of dedicated private teaching. His academic journey took him from Knoxville to Nashville, where he pursued a double major in Commercial Music and Music Education at Belmont University. During his time at Belmont, Colby actively engaged in various collegiate music opportunities, participating in vocal ensembles ranging from jazz and chamber music to world percussion and men’s a cappella.
In the Nashville area, Colby has contributed as both a soloist and ensemble member with prominent groups such as the Nashville Symphony Chorus, Portara, SONUS, Vocal Arts Nashville, and the Goode Time Carolers. His extensive experience includes serving as a staff singer and children’s handbell choir director at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and he continues to apply his vocal talents in session work from his home studio.
Previously, Colby was the Director of Choirs and Music Production at Brentwood Middle School, where he arranged repertoire for vocal ensembles, composed music for production classes, and adjudicated county choral events.
Colby is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting at Florida State University, where he resides with his wife and dog in Tallahassee, FL.
